15 Must-Haves to Organize Your Bedroom

Let’s face it — bedrooms get messy. It’s not your fault, it’s not mine, it’s not your dog’s! It’s just the nature of the world. Ever heard of a thing called entropy? I won’t get too science-nerdy today, but basically, entropy means the universe operates in chaos. Anything that can go wrong will… bringing that back to your room, messes happen! It’s not about the mess itself but rather, about what you can be doing to nail down a better organization pattern. Without further ado, here are 15 must-haves for a well-organized bedroom:

1. Under-bed organizers

Need to stow away some extra belongings? Try an under-bed organizer that lets you store extras in a safe place. This is especially helpful for people who live in cold climates with a lot of winter gear that isn’t used in hot months.

2. Shelves

It seems silly, right? It feels like we all have shelves, but in reality, shelves are totally under-utilized. Whether they hold your decorations or a stack of books, shelves can make a world of a difference in the overall organization of your room.

3. Clothing racks

Clothing racks have made a comeback in recent years. In the past, you could only find them in stores, but now? Clothing racks are in all the fashion influencers’ bedrooms. You can pick from short racks and tall racks, you can stack your shoes or keep it just to clothing on hangers. When in doubt, rack it up!

4. Closet organizers

For the lucky ones, some apartments come with built-in closet organizers. It must be nice! For those of you who don’t have this luxury, you can easily find it at Home Depot or Lowe’s. After a quick self-install, you’ll be good to go!

5. Use your wall

Your wall doesn’t need to be a blank canvas. You can use it to store things! Try mounting organizers or shelves to your wall for a little extra space and organization.

6. Go vertical

Everyone always says “go vertical,” but who actually does it? When you run out of horizontal space, try thinking about ways to stack things or mount things to your walls that will allow you to make use of the up-and-down a little more than the left-and-right.

7. Dual-purpose furniture

Rather than crowd your room with a nightstand, dresser, end table, and desk, why not combine a few things? Your end table can double up as a nightstand, and your desk can serve as storage for extra junk and little trinket items.

8. Storage furniture pieces

Furniture doesn’t have to be limited to sitting or lying. There are plenty of furniture pieces that double up as storage, whether it be a hutch or a coffee table that has extra storage nestled below it.

9. Hooks

I can’t begin to tell you how much a life-saver hook can be in the world of home organization. Mount them on the back of your doors, your walls, and inside your closet. These bad boys will help you big time!

10. Invest in trash cans

Trash cans help with clutter. Period. If you don’t have enough around, you won’t be in the habit of throwing away junk.

11. Storage-friendly beds

Some beds have the disorganized in mind with extra storage space built-in. These are super helpful when you have extra stuff but no place for it!

12. Keep your shoes in one place

There are tons of shoe organizers out there, from hanging closet shoe organizers to stackable ones. The important thing is that you’re keeping all of your shoes in one spot!

13. Jewelry organizers

This one for the ladies! Jewelry gets tangly and messy so quickly. In order to avoid this, invest in a jewelry organizer that will better help you lay everything out.

14. Corner shelves

We talked about shelves, but what about corner shelves? These are great for people who have a lot of shelf decorations AND stuff because you can make better use of the angles in your room.

15. Small organizers

What about all the little things? We all have headphones, cords, and tiny things that get lost easily. You may want to buy a small organizer for cords and other similar items.
